Goodna club in stunning comeback for Christmas

WHEN the Goodna Services Club was overwhelmed by floodwaters earlier this year, estimates were that it could take up to 18 months to return from such damage.

But the seemingly impossible has been achieved, with the much-anticipated reopening of the club now in the diary for mid-December.

Club management have said customers should brace themselves for a stunning makeover when the doors reopen.

“Prepare to have your minds blown,” Club President Russell Dewar said.

“Goodna Services Club has had a huge rebranding.

“This will be an experience for the whole family, there has been a revolution in thinking about how the club should feel to customers.

“Expect exciting new food offerings and a huge tap house with a big selection of craft beers, a children’s playground, an inhouse café, fewer poker machines and a vast LED TV capable of catering for all the biggest sports events.

“We have been wanting to appeal to a younger crowd for some time and the floods gave us the perfect opportunity to move on from being strictly a services club and become a family-friendly space.

“There will be a high-end resort feel about the place.”

The $6 million facelift at the 112 Brisbane Terrace venue will embrace the panoramic views of the jacaranda trees at Evan Marginson Park.

General Manager Adam Wiencke said the traditional crowd need not fear, though.

“The aim has been to make the most of the new spaces in the club so everybody feels happy,” Mr Wiencke said.

“The bistro will still be here with all the old favourites like ribs and steaks.

“Our new American-style restaurant will be able to cater for vegans and vegetarians, and for different dietary needs.”

Mr Wiencke said there was good news on the horizon for job hunters, too.

“Goodna Services Club already has a workforce of 100 but is now looking for 50 new hospitality staff to join the team,” he said.

“We see ourselves as an employer of choice at the Goodna club and want to grow people’s talents from within our organisation.

“The club needs apprentices, too, so make sure to get your job application in as soon as possible.”
