1950s design for indoor-outdoor living has future appeal

OWNERS of an architecturally designed home in Turner Street, East Ipswich, are testing the market by calling for expressions of interest.

Among the stand-out features of the residence built in 1959, is the upper level where the rooms all revolve around the master bedroom.

The all-on-one-level master suite has a large walk-in robe and ensuite, a living room which is larger than the bedroom and a long ‘views from two sides’, sunroom. The living room also contains a kitchenette.

The ground floor is split level and contains four bedrooms with built in wardrobes and two bathrooms.

The timber double front doors open into a foyer and then into a large living area.

One flight of four steps set into the far wall of this living area leads to the kitchen and meals room which in turn flow out into a long dining room.

A long undercover deck runs along one side of the dining room and opens out onto a large roofed patio.

Taking a circular route through the home, on one side of the patio is a bathroom with an outside door to give swimmers using the pool access to both toilet and shower. Along the same wall of the patio is storage room.

The far wall of the patio has double doors leading into a rumpus room and on another wall of the rumpus room is the internal access point from the garage.

Returning to the front living room, we find the doorway into a large bedroom which overlooks another covered deck.

The second flight of four stairs in the front living room leads into a hallway from which has openings into the large laundry, a family sized bathroom and the first of three bedrooms on this side of the home.

The hallway also opens into an activity room and access to two bedrooms.

The home is air conditioned throughout and most rooms are fitted with a ceiling fan. The four ground level bedrooms have built in wardrobes.

Outside the 1,295sqm allotment contains a 14×4 metre swimming pool and a garden shed. And there is also a 5kW solar system.
