FERNVALE real estate professional Robyn Tucker has been named among the Real Estate Institute of Queensland’s newest Fellows for the 2024-25 financial year.
Ms Tucker joins an exclusive list of just 45 industry leaders across the state recognised for their long-standing service and dedication to best practice.
Ms Tucker, principal and licensee of Approved Real Estate Queensland, said she was stunned when she received the call confirming her appointment.
“I was silent for a moment,” she said.
“Then I asked her to repeat it so my husband could hear. He’s just so, so proud of me.
“We’d only been talking a week earlier about how I felt I really contributed to the community through my work – helping people take that next step in life, guiding them forward. I don’t think real estate agents always get seen in that light.”
A member of the REIQ for over two decades, Ms Tucker said her commitment to continual learning and industry involvement had been key to her longevity and reputation.
“I’ve been with the REIQ for 20 years, and I turn up to every conference, every workshop. It’s critical to stay across legislation changes and industry updates – because even the simplest contracts can throw up legal curve balls,” she said.
For Ms Tucker, the Fellowship is a deeply personal milestone that acknowledges years of hard work behind the scenes.
“It’s a real honour. I eat, live, breathe real estate – and to have that dedication recognised is incredibly meaningful,” she said.
“I start at 7am and often don’t finish until 8pm. My husband Chris holds the fort at home – I couldn’t do this without his support.”
Ms Tucker’s business is based in Fernvale, where she’s seen dramatic change over the past decade – not just in the market, but in community expectations.
“You have to roll with it,” she said.
“What buyers are looking for is always evolving. Out here, there’s a real need for more infrastructure – schools, commercial services – especially with the population boom that’s coming.
“We’ve got the housing estates approved; we just need the dirt to move.”
One of her proudest career achievements is the repeat business she’s built over the years.
“I’ve had buyers become sellers, and some homes I’ve sold two or three times. That tells me I must have done something right,” Ms Tucker said.
“People still come up to me years later to thank me – some even bring their kids back to visit when they hit their teens. That’s what keeps me going.”
Asked what advice she’d give to young agents, Ms Tucker said: “Never rush. Don’t chase the end result – take each step properly.
“Always ask questions. Never guess.”
Will she be adding the FREIQ title to her business cards?
“Absolutely,” she said.
