Cronan leads way for Eddies juniors

LEADING Southeast Queensland boys’ school St Edmund’s College has announced a new Director of Junior Schooling.

Craig Cronan was part of the “Eddies’’ team between 2006-2015 and he returned to the school in 2020 after serving in principal roles at St Patrick’s School, St George and St Mary’s Primary School at Laidley.

Mr Cronan said he was “devoted to educating and developing all students but particularly the younger members of our community”.

“I am committed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment in which positive relationships can be fostered and every student can thrive.”

“We are delighted to welcome Craig back to the Eddies team,’’ Principal Ray Celegato said.

“His ability to inspire and his dedication to fostering meaningful relationships across our community truly sets him apart.

“Craig’s commitment to nurturing each student’s character, self-awareness and resilience aligns perfectly with our values here at St Edmund’s.”

Mr Cronan has personal ties to St Edmund’s, as a parent of an Old Boy.

The news comes on the back of news the school will reintroduce years 5 and 6 to the college next year – the first time in 37 years.

The school opened in 1892 with primary years students but had no plans to expand beyond Year 5.

At the time, school bosses cited rapid growth in the area as the reason for the move.

The school, founded by the Congregation of Christian Brothers, is embedded in the traditions of Edmund Ignatius Rice.
