School beauty show to celebrate milestone

IPSWICH State High School pioneered the first Hair and Beauty program of its type in the region 15 years ago.

“Since its inception in 2009, our hair and beauty program has kept students engaged in their education and paved the way for many successful careers in the industry,” Vocational Trainer Ipswich State High School Amanda Robson said.

“We are incredibly proud of the achievements of our students and the ongoing success of this program.

“The transformation we have seen in our students is remarkable.

“They gain practical skills and industry knowledge and develop confidence and a sense of purpose that keeps them motivated to stay in school.

“Students in the program often say that it gives them hands-on experience and a clear path to a career they are passionate about.

“It gives them a head start in the industry with the extra support they need to succeed.”

Acting School Principal Susan Taylor said the school had showed itself as a real innovator.

“The program has provided affordable training and entry opportunities and has allowed industry pathways to grow and flourish within our school and the wider community,” Ms Taylor said.

“These programs are a great example of how the school is linking to real-world outcomes for students”.

On Wednesday, July 31, the school showcases the program at the X-Block Performing Arts Centre at Hunter Street Brassall, from 5.30pm.
