Grant for 12 businesses to enhance CBD offerings

BANSHEES Bar in the CBD has secured council funding under the Linger a Bit Longer program whereby businesses vie for $2,000 in funding to create more engaging environments for customers.

Banshees, among twelve businesses who were handed funding, will add an arcade machine and bar stools.

Stony Creek Brewing will buy large umbrellas for its laneway and Monte Lane will buy furniture and incorporate sip and paint activations.

Heisenberg Haus, Gelatissimo Ipswich, Hotel Commonwealth, The Mill Coffee Shop, The Rusty Nail and Ungermann Brothers have received funding for live music events and Embers & Twine will hold soap and candle making workshops.

“Drift and Stone in collaboration with Nhuralama’s Shop, Growing Confident Minds, Menagerie Retail, Oh Jo Jo and Hive Marketplace, have collaborated to boost monthly Friday night markets with furniture, a musician and roving entertainment at the Flour Mill.

More than 700 new businesses registered last year and there are now 13,049 local businesses operating.

“We have experienced a $2.4 billion increase in our gross regional product over the past three years with an overall $15.08 billion for 2023-2024,” Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said.

“As we go from strength to strength, we have cemented our reputation as city that is a great place for industry to thrive and to run a business
